We get asked a lot of the differences between males and females. Both sexes carry different traits to there personalities, however I find it is usually a personal preference for most people.

If you ask a breeder and someone who spends a lot of time with there dogs they are going to tell you to get a male as they are more family ordinate.  If you speak to a trainer they are going to tell you to go female all the way, as they are easier to train, but keep in mind they are not always the dog that will follow you around or be that furry carpet, they usually will come to you on there own time frame, they are not going to go out of there way to be up in your face.

Females do make better guardian dogs, what I mean by this, is they will bark is someone is breaking into your house, unlike a male that will give the robber sad eyes and say leave some treats for me. No golden will ever be a great guard dog as they are to lovable.

So if you  were looking for a answer as to if you should get a male or female puppy I recommend that you discuss that with your breeder so you can look at everything that you are looking to get out of a golden. Don't get set into one sex or the other until you look at all your options.
